Listeners of our podcast will know that I attended Oz Comic-Con Melbourne a couple of Saturdays ago and to say that I had an awesome time is an understatement.
I simply cannot praise this year’s event enough. A beautiful venue in the Exhibition Building, well thought out layout, heaps to do and see, quality food, and an awesome selection of guests.
This is how a convention is meant to be done!
So thank you Hub Productions, for an awesome show. And thanks also to Blue Planet for organising interviews with some of the guests and generally being awesome!
One of the highlights of the show for me was not only getting to speak and interview some of my favourite comic people like Phil Jimenez, Nicola Scott, Freddie Williams II, & Paul Mason, but I also managing to score some breathtaking sketches/commissions from them!
Regular visitors to the Oz Comic-Con Facebook page will know that they have been posting video newsletters that are both fun and informative! And if you’re not following their Facebook page, why not!
The videos include some tips for those who Oz Comic-Con Melbourne may be their first convention – Convention 101’s, as well as some messages from some of their guests, such as Doug Holgate & Tristan Jones, and Bill Farmer.
And don’t forget that Oz Comic-Con recently announced that the one and only Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy, Beauty and the Beast) will be attending the Melbourne event, joining other top name guests like William Shatner (Star Trek, Boston Legal)and Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210,Charmed). The hall wont be able to contain the awesome!
Get ready to set Phasers to Fun (yeah, I went there) and jump to Warp Factor over 9000! (yeah I know I mixed franchises – don’t judge me!) because Captain James T Kirk himself – Mr William Shatner – is coming to Oz Comic-Con!!!
Melbourne fans thought they were going to miss out when he was only confirmed for Perth & Adelaide, but apparently he loves us so much he’s coming back!
The Oz Comic-Con festivities continue this weekend in the city if churches. After their triumphant event in Perth last weekend, the stars have brought joy to the nerds & geeks of Adelaide.
With stars like Aaron Asmore, Richard Dean Anderson, Patricia Quinn, Eddie McClintock, Jason Momoa & the one and only William Shatner (and lots more!), as well as a plethora of stalls and special events, Oz Comic-Con Adelaide has something for everyone!
It’s on right now at the Adelaide Showgrounds so stop reading this and get down there! 🙂
