Glad that you didn’t completely hate it. πŸ™‚ I’ve never read World War Z (zed πŸ™‚ ) and I’ll have to add it to my book list. I agree completely that this will make a better movie than it did a book and that it read like a movie plot. Crystal, I can’t believe you don’t like apocalypse books! I’ll try not to hold it against you.
    Have a great day y’all.

Lol, thanks Kayleigh. I don’t dislike all apocalypse books. There is a great one by Robert Silverberg called ‘Nightfall’ which is based on the short story of the same name by Isaac Asmiov.

I really didn’t like ‘The Road’, however. I found it incredibly bleak. I think that’s mostly what puts me off, many Apocalypse stories tend to be bleak by their very nature.

Thanks again for the suggestion though, it was good to read something I otherwise wouldn’t have thought to pick up πŸ™‚

Hi Kaleigh! I actually quite liked it, I gave it 3.5 Lukes (7/10) and I look forward to the movie. Thanks again for suggesting it and if you have any other books you think we might like please let us know πŸ™‚

OK, So, I finally got around to reading World War Z(ed). I wasn’t entirely impressed. I felt like things were too broad, too general to really make you connect to the story. On the other hand, I’d have ready a complete story for each person in the book. I’d like to have seen the whole story through each set of eyes (hello series!). But seeing at I’m a sucker for zombies I still gave it 3/5 stars on Goodreads. I’m fully prepared to hate the movie when it comes out too πŸ˜‰

Hope you are having a wonderful tomorrow πŸ™‚

Hi Kaleigh! That’s a fair review of WWZ(ed), I can’t really argue with that. Thanks for giving it a go πŸ™‚ And I love your series idea, that would be awesome! From all accounts they appear to have ditched most of the book for the film but as long as it’s still enjoyable I won’t mind.

David, do y’all enjoy young adult books? I find myself getting sucked into these things like crazy. Partially because of my love of series books (and it seems most YA books are part of a series) and also because it seems like there is more action and more going on in the stories than typical adult books. They’re much easier to decompress to after a long day of work and mommihood.

That said, I’ve been reading Johnathan Maberry’s zombie series. It starts with “Rot and Ruin”. I think the series is just the “Benny Imura” series. I very much enjoyed the first two books, and the third was pretty good. The basic gist is 3 teenagers venturing out into the “Rot and Ruin” that is left in the world after the zombies come. They learn to fight from the main character, Benny’s, older brother who has been caring for him since his parents turned into zombies on first night.
I could go on forever about these but I should accomplish something today. Have a great one!

Hi Kaleigh! You know that is an interesting question. At first I was like ‘Nope, can’t think of a single one, except that Twilight rubbish.’ But then I realised that I’ve actually read quite a few – David Eddings (Belgariad/Mallorian), Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, Fallen, & the Northern Lights books to just name a few. I haven’t read any Mayberry novels, but I have read all of his comics (all Zombie related you should check ’em out). And I’m not ashamed to admit I didn’t mind Beautiful Creatures so I wouldn’t mind checking that out either. Have you read it, what did you think?
