Hello to all NCP culturalites!
We apologize for the lack of posts recently. Heavy rain has caused havoc with our internet so I am posting this from another location in order to let you all know.
We are not completely out of action, our latest podcast is up (Episode #19) and as soon as our internet decides to work again I’ll post the next Who Review, Wow Yoda spec & Spotlight On… that are waiting patiently for their time in the sun.
And don’t forget our next episode is part 1 of our Star Wars Special, focussing on the Original trilogy!

Pop Culture Expo Supanova is on again this year and looks bigger and better than ever. NCP started around the same time as Supanova last year and it is a part of why I decided to create NCP, so I feel a special kinship with it.
The Melbourne expo will be held on April 13-15, then moving to the Gold Coast April 20-22, with other shows in June and November.
This year boasts a very impressive list of Special Guests, including Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: TNG), Nelson Ellis (Tru Blood), Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers), Allison Mack (Smallville), Jim Kelly (Black Belt Jones), Brian Michael Bendis (Marvel architect), Carlos Pacheco (Comic Artist), Brandon Sanderson (Author) and Ian Irvine (Author), to name only a handful!
They also have a Cosplay competition sponsored by Madman Entertainment as well as film screenings, games, and a heap of other activities.
Full details can be found at their website – http://www.supanova.com.au/ – where you can sign up for their newsletter and keep being informed with up to date info.
NCP will be at the Melbourne event, and we would love to bump into any of our fans who are also attending. Don’t be shy, say Hi!

As reported on CBR and Bleeding Cool, artist Al Rio passed away on January 31st.
I’m a big fan of Mr Rio’s artwork, from his run on Gen13, to his work on Shi, and Voodoo. He also worked on other ‘Bad Girl’ characters like Lady Death and Purgatory, as well as the Grimm Fairy Tales (but I didnt collect those).
He was a natural choice to replace J Scott Campbell, with a great style that complemented Campbell’s work and then expanded on it. Of course he will be remembered most for his ‘Good Girl’ style, and I never understood why DC didnt put him on Supergirl. Mr Rio leaves behind his wife and children and our well wishes go out to them.
