Sherlockians, Tolkenists, Trekkies, film buffs and theatre aficionados take note – today is the day that fandoms unite, with news that Benedict Cumberbatch is set to join the fun at Oz Comic-Con Adelaide and appear at two exclusive Oz Comic-Con Q&A events in Sydney. He’s an award winning thespian, a star of the big and small screen and a man with an epic online following of devoted fans, and he will be coming to Australia thanks to Oz Comic-Con!
Best known for his role in the world-wide hit television show Sherlock, where he brings to life the brilliant and idiosyncratic consulting detective, Cumberbatch has also taken on the iconic role of the dragon Smaug, through voice and motion-capture, in Peter Jackson’sThe Hobbit trilogy and the superhuman villain in J.J Abrams’ blockbuster movie Star Trek Into Darkness. With roles in the Oscar winning 12 Years a Slave and the critically acclaimed August: Osage County, Cumberbatch has cemented his place on the new Hollywood A-list. Beyond his film and television work, Cumberbatch has appeared on stage numerous times, including an award-winning stint as both Victor Frankenstein and his creature in the Royal National Theatre production of Frankenstein.
Cumberbatch will be at Oz Comic-Con Adelaide on April 5-6 to meet with fans and answer questions during special moderated panels. The two shows will feature the talented Brit live on stage for a moderated Q&A, where he will share stories about his work and audience members will have the chance to ask the star questions!
